Note to genealogists: In Virginia (Isle of Wight County and Northumberland County), Maryland (Dorchester County, Somerset County and Wicomico County) and Delaware (Sussex County) there was at least one branch of Bradleys that changed their surnames to Badley in the 17th century. Most of the descendants of these Badleys changed their names back to Bradley in the second half of the 19th century, with the exception of William Badley, who moved from Maryland to Ohio (Ross County), and his descendants.
